Hanle is home to the Indian Astronomical Observatory. The location of the village and the observatory are highly sensitive due to the close proximity of the Tibetan / Chinese border. India set up the Himalayan Chandra Telescope, a 2m gamma ray telescope at Hanle.

The Suru Valley is one of the most beautiful fertile valley's of the Zanskar region in the Ladakh. The valley extends from Kargil in the south towards Zanskar for a length of around 85 kms. The valley is famous for the Nun and Kun peaks.

These villages form the only region in India populated by Balti people. Turtuk is known for its fruit, especially apricots. Turtuk was administered by Pakistan & was under Pakistani control until the war of 1971, when the Indian Army regained control again.

Situated in the Himalayan range, Zanskar is popular with adventure junkies. A hotspot for trekking, paragliding and river rafting, Lamayuru to Darcha and Lamayuru-Padum are some of the popular trekking trails that pass around Zanskar. Treks to Markha Valley and Khangri begin from Zanskar.

Pangong Lake, situated at a height of almost 4,350m, is the world's highest saltwater lake. Its water, which seems to be dyed in blue, stand in stark contrast to the arid mountains surrounding it. Extending to almost 160km, one-third of the Pangong Lake lies in India and the other two-thirds in China.

Shanti Stupa is situated on a hilltop in Chanspa, Leh district, Ladakh, in the north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Shanti Stupa as know Buddhist white-domed stupa.

The Apricot Blossom Festival is organized by the Ladakh Tourism Department. It is aimed at popularizing this local tradition by inviting outsiders to partake in the celebrations with music, shopping, games and dances. The festival will be held in Leh and Ladakh from April 6, 2024 to April 18, 2024.
